Introduction to Waves
Waves are everywhere. We use them to communicate, whether it is verbal or through social media. It plays a huge role in our lives without us knowing it. We see because of light waves and we hear because of sound waves. So, what are waves?
Waves are disturbances that travel through mediums while transferring energy such as light and sound energy. The energy transmission from waves can be more from one place to another without moving any matter over the same distance. Waves can be either longitudinal or transverse. Particles in longitudinal waves (also known as compression waves) move in parallel motion to the direction of the wave. On the other hand, in transverse waves particles travel in a perpendicular motion to the direction of the wave.
